Description of Work Unit

The Microbiology, Immunology and Pathology ( MIP ) Department is comprised of over 400 individuals who share a common passion for solving some of the most important human and animal health problems today. Research programs include those related to mycobacteria, retroviruses, prions, and arthropod-borne infectious diseases, as well as the diagnostic investigation of naturally-occurring animal diseases. A leader in education, MIP provides the only microbiology undergraduate degree program in Colorado, a graduate program that provides training in a number of cutting-edge disciplines, and several specialized veterinary residency training programs.

Position Summary

The individual in this role will serve as a Research Scientist for an NIH / NIAID sponsored position related to the SolaVAX-CoV-2 Development program and support research activities related to development of new vaccine formulations and evaluation of immunological responses in pre-clinical and animal studies. The individual in this role will interface with investigators who are conducing pre-clinical work as well as external collaborators who are working on new vaccine formulations derived from the SolaVAX technology platform.

Position Minimum Qualifications

Research doctorate degree, teaching experience in a supervised setting (e.g. as a graduate teaching assistant), experience in microbiology wet lab and cell culture for bacterial and/or viral agents. Experience in animal studies and BSL2 and BSL3 laboratory research.

Preferred Qualifications

Two or more years’ experience as a postdoctoral scientist. Experience in data processing and analysis, immunological assays (ELISAs, neutralization assays), molecular techniques ( PCR ), culturing of virus and bacteria, cell culture and handling of infectious agents.
